Ground Beef Sausage Pattys Recipe

*this post contains affiliate links*

We love beef over here. It’s such a mild flavor, it’s kosher for our kosher friends, we can get it really cheap locally, everyone likes it, so on and so forth.

I’ve never really loved the texture of pork sausage patties (and definitely not links!) so I set out to make some using something we always have in our freezer- ground beef!

After doing some digging there are 3 main ingredients that you’ll need to make this taste sausage-y: sage, fennel seeds & maple syrup.

It’s such an easy recipe and such a kid favorite around here. I personally think it cooks best in a cast iron skillet, but work with what you’ve got! I also think it would be great to slip some ground liver or ground heart into it, or just buy the force of nature brand (you can find that here!) of ground beef which has all of that already in it!

I absolutely love to eat this sausage on egg sandwiches, or chopped up in some omelets, or making a little hashbrown frittata mixture. I’ve used it in sausage gravy before, and leftovers on top of pizza for pizza night. Perhaps even in this “cinnamon roll” like I saw on Facebook! Literally the possibilities are endless!

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 3/4 tsp ground sage
  • 1/8 tsp ground pepper
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  • Preheat griddle or skillet over med/med high heat (will depend on your stove)
  • Combine all ingredients to a bowl and mix really, really well.
  • Form into patties, I do about a palm sized ball and smoosh them.
  • Cook on your preheated griddle (or skillet) on one side for 5 mins or until brown.
  • Flip, and cook on second side for 5 mins or until brown and internal temperature reaches 160*F.
  • Enjoy!

So easy, and so flavorful, I hope you enjoy!
